Pont UK Limited gains Good Employment Charter supporter status
We are proud to report that the UK business has gained ‘supporter’ status to the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter. As a first step towards achieving ‘member’ status, this represents an important development in our commitment to becoming a champion of responsible employment practices.
The charter has 147 businesses registered as supporter members and has been sponsored by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who is leading its mission to promote excellent working environments in businesses across our region.
The Charter focuses on 7 core principles:
1. Secure Work
2. Flexible Work
3. Real Living Wage
4. Workplace Engagement and Voice
5. Recruitment Practices
6. People Management
7. Health and Wellbeing
Our company is enjoying massive growth, and that brings with it some challenges. Pont Europe as a group and the individual business units at a local level are committed to improving the satisfaction of the entire Pont team. This includes the environment we work in, how we work, how we interact individually and across the group, and how we engage with our customers and suppliers. Joining the Charter in the UK supports the group objective.
The Charter allows us to benchmark ourselves and look at adopting best practice as an employer. Our aim is to progress from supporter status to fully-fledged member in the next 6-9 months, joining only 27 businesses that have reached this level in the Greater Manchester region so far. We are already doing a lot of what is expected so I don’t anticipate it being too much of a challenge for us to meet the required levels on all aspects of the charter.
Being a member of the charter also helps us access training and development funds, which will help us upskill as individuals and a business. We have already recognised as a team that we need further training on Microsoft Excel, we will shortly be updating you on this along with other training that can be offered.
